Objective

A vulnerability in the uninstaller component of Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client for Mac OS could allow an authenticated, local attacker to corrupt the content of any file in the filesystem. The vulnerability is due to the incorrect handling of directory paths. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by creating a symbolic link (symlink) to a target file on a specific path. Cisco AnyConnect 4.9 MR2 will be released between September 14, 2020, and September 21, 2020, f or all customers across all production release tracks who have the AnyConnect Cloud auto-update feature enabled in settings. Customers not using cloud upgrade can deploy at any time. Note: There is no Windows release for 4.9 MR2. This update automatically updates AnyConnect, including the VPN.

Overview

Cisco's AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client is a Virtual Private Network (VPN) client that works on a wide variety of operating systems and hardware configurations.
